Abstract

Abstract: The Lord of the Rings is the most famous work of Tolkien, the writer, linguist, medievalist and professor of English literature. Some consider it as a masterpiece, others as a childish tale, but the novel leaves nobody indifferent. Thirty years after its publication, it still fascinates. The aim of the following work is to approach the autobiographical dimension of the novel, with a psychodynamic perspective and through the oedipal paradigm. Therefore, the released elements are studied under a double analytical and structural prospect, then emphasised relatively to the biographical data of the author and to his cultural environment.
