Abstract

The article offers information on how decisions on the natural resources issues were carried out under the conditions of scientific controversy and when the reliability of the scientific information provided is questioned. In order to address the growing public concern on environmental quality, the U.S. Congress enacted the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).Under such Act are the national environmental policy, goals, procedures and directing agencies which will utilize a systematic, interdisciplinary approach to insure the integrated use of the natural and social sciences and the environmental design arts in planning and decision making such as in the presence of scientific uncertainty, incomplete information and controversies.
