Continuity and Change in the Regimes of Ethnicity in Austria, Germany, the USSR/Russia, and Turkey: Varieties of Ethnic Regimes and Hypotheses for Change.

The article focuses on a study related to the regime of ethnicity in the multi-ethnic societies of Austria, Germany, Russia, and Turkey. According to the study, regime of ethnicity denotes the rules governing the permissible expression and political uses of ethnicity. Regime of ethnicity for the study included the official territorial ethnic autonomy, citizenship of ethnic minorities, linguistic rights of ethnic minorities, and the basis of immigration.
