Abstract

The article discusses the common side effects suffered by patients undergoing chemotherapy. A study which found that adjuvant chemotherapy in women with breast cancer can be associated with memory deterioration is cited. Research suggests that the carriers of apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene's E4 allele may have a higher risk of developing long-term cognitive defects after receiving chemotherapy. It also mentions studies indicating the role of neural damage in cognitive impairment.
