Abstract
- The article discusses how philosophers Max H. Fisch, James J. Liszka, Lucia Santella, Anne Friedman and Mats Bergman brought focus on why Charles S. Peirce took speculative rhetoric to be the highest and most living branch of logic. The author studied how these scholars assessed the unfinished trajectory of Peirce's realization of the importance of speculative rhetoric. He argues for a more pragmaticist and rhetorical approach in the shift from the formalist and taxonomic emphasis of many commentators.
