Abstract

The article features the Fraport Data Center, which was launched in September 2006 at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany. It provides data to the airport for the airbus A380 Super Jumbo Jet that transfers its operation from the German government-operated air traffic control system to ground control. It is a publicly and privately owned system buried 9 meters below the ground to control every aspect of operation from the screens that provide flight information to the movements of the passenger trams, as well as passenger movements within the airport. If the system goes down, the airport will likely close all emergency landings because everything is said to be under its control. The center is considered a model of redundancy powered by the American Power Conversion's Infrastruxure architecture.
