Abstract

The article reports on the challenges faced by resource-limited countries in the development of affordable diagnostics for tropical diseases. Important for the safety of emergency blood supply is infectious disease testing. Tests need to be fast enough for patients to receive treatment. The types of assays needed in the diagnosis of tropical infectious diseases are discussed.
