The article discusses the control mechanism in mating habits of the fruitfly Drosophila. The gender specific behavior of the fly is controlled by a gene called fruitless that is expressed in the nervous system. Various factors involved in the mating habits of the fruitflies including the activation of receptors, sensing of the male sex pheromone, odors and identification are also discussed.
