Abstract
- The author responds to the essay "The Melancholy Art," by Michael Ann Holly. She discusses the oil on linen painting "Mirrored Trees," by April Gornik completed in 2000. She uses the painting to extend Holly's argument to include contemporary works of art as being capable of inspiring a feeling of "melancholy."
