Abstract

The article deals with credit unions as the practice of political theology. It suggests that political theology should be attentive to the unions' economic, social and spiritual value. One reason is that they are born as practical responses to poverty and marginalization by those who lived and worked in poor communities. Another is that credit unions are worked examples of the kind of political theology called for in current debates in which intermediate institutions disrupt the imperialism of the capitalist market economy.
