Abstract
- The article presents the results of a preliminary observational study on using larval therapy to eliminate methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from diabetic foot ulcers. The study included the application of sterile free-range larvae of the green bottle fly Lucilia Sericata to the MRSA-colonized ulcers. The results showed a reduction in sloughy necrotic tissue and an increase of granulation tissue. The results also confirmed the potential of the therapy as a noninvasive and risk-free treatment for MRSA.
