This study presents a general overview of the prescription habits and the resources which give information on the preferred drugs by Dentists in Puebla, México. Antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and analgesics are the most prescribed pharmacotherapeutic groups and the rationale of their use requires to be monitored. The Practitioners interviewed reported to prescribe medication mostly based on their experience rather than consulting medical reports and literature. The result of the study leads us to two major conclusions. The first, it is necessary to conduct a wider pharmacoepidermiologic study in this field and the second, the need for a pharmacotherapeutic guide focused on Dental practitioners.
