Abstract

The article discusses United States President George W. Bush's 2007 State of the Union Address. The speech, which focused mostly on national security and the Iraq war, barely touched on higher-education issues. His only extended comments on education policy centered on the reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act. Bush said he planned to submit a spending plan to Congress in the coming weeks that would eliminate the budget deficit within the next five years, which could have a huge impact on higher education funding in the country.
