Abstract

The author critiques "Remaking Modernity: Politics, History & Sociology." He focuses on the introductory and concluding essays by the editors of this volume which are "normative," according to the reviewer. His main criticism of "Remaking Modernity" is the perceived idea of historical progress in many of the included essays. He takes the book's contributors to task for not fully analizing the problematics of historical sociology. The author argues that the book primarily features the work of modern sociologists who write about modernity.
