Abstract
- The article presents a look at how the element gold forms. New deposits of gold can be laid down within a human lifetime and, in some cases, within a matter of days. Mark Hannington, an expert in economic geology at the University of Ottawa in Canada, reports on findings from a study at a mine at the center of a volcano on Lihir Island in Papua New Guinea.
