Abstract: This article focuses on evidence-based medicine and how the term arose. Evidence-based medicine has been used in the treatment of breast cancer, premature babies, asthma and in halting the use of diethylstilbestrol to prevent miscarriage. Its use in the conservation of public health resources is mentioned. The future of evidence-based medicine is discussed.
