Abstract
- The article discusses the results of the Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease (BOLD) study in Salzburg, Austria. The BOLD study was started to provide estimates of the social and economic burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The study found that one quarter of residents of Salzburg who are ≥ 40 years of age had at least mild irreversible airflow obstruction.
