This article provides information on the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Germany. In 2007, a massive restoration scheme is under way after a fire ravaged the rococo hall and the priceless book collection housed within it. The 2004 fire was the largest library burning in Germany since the Second World War. The fire destroyed over 100,000 books, many of them first editions of Baroque and Enlightenment classics.
