Abstract

The article presents an editorial that comments on a report by Ilyana Kuziemko and Eric Werker that discusses the practice of "vote buying" on the United Nations (UN) Security Council. The authors of the report found that countries received more aid from the U.S. and the United Nations Children's Fund when they are on the UN Security Council and when issues of importance to the United States are at stake. The effects of this practice on global health policies are discussed. The weighted-voting system of the International Monetary Fund and the World bank are discussed.
