Abstract

The article reports that Yamana Gold has started operating its Chapada copper-gold mine in Goiás state, Brazil. The expected average head grades to be delivered in the first five years of the mine's operation is 0.459% copper and 0.428 g/mt gold. For 2007, the expected production of the mine is estimated to be around 130 million pounds of copper and 190,000 oz of gold in concentrates. Yamana Gold will also develop its Sāo Vicente project in Mato Grosso state, Brazil as an independent mine.
