Abstract

The article reports on the award of a 10-year IT modernization and management contract presented to IBM Corp. and Siemens AG by the German Federal Armed Forces or Bundeswehr in Germany. The contract, which is worth 7.1 billion euros, has been presented after more than three years of negotiations with various vendors. IBM holds the responsibility of the modernization of the German army's data centers and running applications such as Notes and SAP AG's enterprise resource planning and supply chain management software. On the other hand, Siemens will upgrade and operate the IT equipment of the Bundeswehr.
