Abstract
- The article examines ceramic evidence that support the similarities in the Greek burial of legendary characters Hector in the epic "Iliad," by Homer and Polyneices in the play "Antigone," by Sophocles. The king Creon refused burial for his nephew Polyneices while Achilles did the same with Hector. Both Creon and Achilles overstepped the boundary of appropriate behavior. The humiliation of the corpse of Hector was depicted in paintings in Attic black-figure vases.
