Abstract
- The author discusses developments in the field of economics after attending the 2006 annual conference in Chicago. The author notes that younger economists are studying a wide range of non-business issues with an economists eye. For example, Emily Oster did a study of why certain areas of Africa have high HIV/AIDS rates compared to other areas, and she proposed that the solution would be to fight poverty within the continent.
