The paper deals with the water resources management in irrigation of agricultural land in the Al Hasakah governorate in north-eastern Syria, at the end of 20th century. The area is the most important Syrian cotton and wheat production area. The use of ground-water and river-water in agriculture, especially since the 1970's has led to significant changes in the area.
