Abstract
- The article discusses the research by Leslie Vosshall and colleagues to disable the scent tracking ability of mosquitoes. Mosquitoes reach their prey by smelling carbon dioxide from the victims breath like many insects. Vosshall states that they identified homologous receptors in a mosquito that function as carbon dioxide sensors. Vosshall hopes that this breakthrough will help in developing compounds that dispel insects off human track which in turn will contain malaria and other diseases.
