Abstract

The article discusses the results of a study which examined the lateral transmission of natural scrapie to scrapie-free New Zealand sheep placed in an endemically infected flock in Great Britain. The study found that the New Zealand sheep with specific PrP genotypes contracted natural scrapie. Natural scrapie can pass between sheep after birth.
