Abstract
- The article examines the external cues that could improve the locomotive stability of people with Parkinsonian gait. The symptoms for Parkinsonian gait are decreased stride length and reduced speed. Gait velocity and cadence coordination are necessary to obtain step stability. Rhythmic auditory stimulus training could enhance functional locomotor patterns in walking and it involves timed cues given at specific intervals. Auditory and verbal cues are helpful for patients with gait akinesia.
