Abstract

This article discusses the religious program at a prison in Newton, Iowa and how Robert W. Pratt, chief justice of the federal courts in the Southern District of Iowa, has ruled that the program is an unconstitutional use of taxpayer money for indoctrination. Other courts have previously ruled that taxpayer money can't be used for religious activities or evangelism aimed at prisoners, recovering addicts, job seekers, teenagers and children.
