The article focuses on the development of a measurement system to provide enhanced value for feed grains by Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. in the U.S. Pioneer has developed prediction models which measure the extractability of starch, total fermentable potential of corn, and digestible energy concentration of corn through the use of Near Infrared measurement systems. Pioneer is the only seed company which offers corn energy characterization information.
