Abstract

The author reflects on a practical approach in developing studies of society and environment (SOSE) literacy. She has many concerns with the teaching of SOSE in Australia. She believes that discipline integration should be encouraged since all disciplines exist because of the different perspectives and current norm for problem solving is with the use of many perspectives. To develop social science research skills, teachers must ask more of students, not just the usual what, where, when, why and how questions.
