Abstract: The article discusses issues related to the contamination of packaged spinach in the United States in September 2006. 0157:H7, a strain of Escherichia Coli, is responsible for this outbreak of food poisoning. It is expected that a food-irradiation technology would be developed to fix the problem in future rather than addressing the root cause of the problem.
