Abstract

The article presents a study which examines if repeated sputum induction could induce neutrophilic and eosinophilic response. The objective of the study was to investigate the induction and resolution of airway inflammation caused by repeated sputum inductions. The researchers found that sputum inductions could induce neutrophilic response and prolonged eosinophilic inflammatory response in healthy intermittent smokers when repeated within 24 to 48 hours.
