Abstract

The article presents a discussion on the railroad history in the U.S. The meeting of the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific at Promontory, Utah, in 1869, is considered to be the most dramatic moment in American railroad history. The disparity between the principal railroads of the North and of the South is known to be the most notable and annoying disparity in American railroad history.
