Abstract
- The article discusses the experiences of Navy Captain Leslie E. Gehres, the ship commander of the U.S.S. Franklin, in saving the ship against Japanese forces during the war. The mission of the Task Force 58 carried by Franklin, is to attack Japan's home airfield and the remnants of the Imperial Navy, but has experienced severe bombings from the enemy. The ship has been saved and has been able to reached New York Harbor through the efforts of Captain Gehres and the crew.
