Abstract

The article talks about private railroad cars being regarded as great symbols of wealth at a certain period of time. The nabobs took pleasure in the beautiful conveniences for they could afford to possess and maintain such cars. Famous people who owned cars include Jay Gould, Edward Harriman and William H. Vanderbilt.
