Abstract

The article focuses on the molecular phylogeny of Aristolochia sensu lato based on sequences of rbcL, matK and phyA genes with special citation to differentiation of chromosome numbers. The genus Aristolochia sensu lato contains over 400 species from warm temperate to tropical regions globally. Its taxonomic treatment have been controversial. It was proposed that the genus should be divided into four genera in two subtribes.
