The article explores the methodologies used for the synthesis of chiral salen complexes, which are recoverable and reusable catalysts, used in research up to the beginning of 2006. Topics discussed include: the general methodologies to transform these complexes into recoverable and reusable catalysts; the operation of these complexes as homogeneous catalysts; and the use of these complexes as heterogeneous catalysts.
