Abstract

The article focuses on the security, political and economic issues of Latin America vis-a-vis its relation with the U.S. The U.S. has great security partnership with many countries in the region. El Salvador is part of the U.S. coalition in Iraq. Colombia's relations with the U.S. has also grown. In 2005, the U.S. did export business of $72 billion with the Latin American region. On the political front, President Hugo Chavez in Venezuela has been critical to the U.S. influence in the region.
