Abstract

The article looks at how advertisements in "Discover" magazine between 1980 and 2006 reveal a radically changing world. According to the article, the advertisements demonstrate the evolution of technology, social mores, and attitudes toward health. The article discusses computer networks, the World Wide Web, cigarette advertising, how "Discover" changed when it was acquired by Walt Disney Company in 1991, and awareness of environmental issues such as global warming.
