Abstract

The article discusses the epidemiology and control of human African trypanosomiasis (HAT), which is also known as sleeping sickness. The disease is classified into two types, one is caused by Trypanosoma brucei rhodesience while the other is caused by T. b. gambiense. The choice of treatment depends on the parasite species involved and on the stage of the disease.
