Abstract

Describes the theory of aerodynamics and a model of optimum partitioning of energy in aphids used to account for the relative body size of winged or unwinged aphids. Structural similarity among aphids in terms of wing area, wing beat frequency and in the relative size of thorax; Prediction that the developmental time for migrants should be longer than for nonmigrants.
