Abstract

The article speculates on the fate of Cuba now that leader Fidel Castro is recovering from the operation that put his brother Raúl temporarily in power. The eventual transition of power after Castro's death looks likely to go in favor of Carlos Lage, the de facto prime minister whose moderate economic policies could open Cuba up.
