Abstract: This chapter gives information on influenzavirus A. It covers a wide range of different aspects of influenzavirus A, including history, virion morphology, electron microscopic image, genome properties, and replication strategy. The properties of individual transcripts and proteins, biological properties in vitro and in vivo are provided, as well as specific information about individual virus species.
