Abstract
- This article explains the reason for the decision of Hewlett-Packard to acquire Mercury Interactive for $4.5 billion. Adaptive and Enterprise have been the long-standing Hewlett-Packard initiatives. The company aims to link IT assets directly to business value. Without acquiring Mercury Interactive the company will not be able to link its IT assets with business value. Thomas Hogan, senior vice president of software at Hewlett-Packard, said that Mercury's software portfolio and project management wares fill an important gap in Hewlett-Packard's product line.
