Discussion on the dynamic behavior of the EN54 part 9 pyrolysis wood fire and its succeeding EN54 part 7 counterpart based on thermal radiation measurements in the microwave region

Abstract: This contribution discusses the dynamic behavior of the EN54 part 9 pyrolysis wood fire and its succeeding EN54 part 7 counterpart. The discussion is based on the measurement of the thermal radiation in the microwave region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The measurements show that the fire test according to EN54 part 7 takes much longer than the fire test according to EN54 part 9, although the only difference between the two fire tests is the amount and the geometry of the used wood sticks.
