Fresh Light on A.G. Stephens as Editor of Barcroft Boake's Works.

The article features A. G. Stephens, editor of Barcroft Boake's works. Stephens had a reputation for damnable tinkering with the works of his stable writers. A comparison of texts is given which shows that Stephens lifted Boake's earlier words in preference to those in the first published version of the poem "Skeeta." On the evidence available, Stephens must be regarded as more respectful of Boake's own words than he has hitherto been given credit for.
