Abstract
- The article considers envy has a motivation for terrorist acts. Envy works on the principle that someone has something another cannot attain, causing the other to act out to destroy it, thereby levelling the inequities between the two parties. This also implies that the thing possessed has an intrinsic value. Envy arises when the gap between the two parties becomes insurmountable and its causes unjust. In the case of the United States and 9/11, the enormous economic power of the U.S. and the gap between rich and poor was seen as morally unjust by the terrorists.
