On July 1, at Camp David, Maryland, the president had an intelligence briefing. He also declared a major disaster in New York and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts. On July, 3 the president had an intelligence briefing. He later met with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and then participated in a signing ceremony for the Safety and Timely Interstate Placement of Foster Children Act of 2006.
