Abstract
- The article discusses journalist and broadcaster Anna Raeburn's experiences of her school days. When in school, she used to love her lessons, her school and most of her teachers. It's hard to single out one of many wonderful women teachers who had taught her at Kirby secondary grammar school for girls in Middlesbrough, England in the late 1950s. But, Miss Jean Travis, a Highland Scot, with rosy cheeks, grey eyes and black hair with grey in it and whose classes were conducted entirely in French was her best teacher.
