Abstract

The article reports on the application of the derivatization technique in High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Capillary Electrochromatography for the development of the Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption-Ionization-Mass Spectrometry, by Andreas Rizzi and colleagues at the University of Vienna, in Australia. Rizzi and colleagues have derivatized the glycopeptides with the 6-aminoquinolyl-N-hydroxysuccinimidyl carbamate to examine glycopeptides formation. They found that small peptides and glycopeptides can be easily detected when derivatization was used. However, only glycopeptides with large peptide backbones were identified when derivatization was not present.
